What are my options if I can’t take a purchased flight?

J D asked:

I’m having mental health issues and I have a trip planned with my mother. I needed to cancel the trip but I don’t wanna lose all the money already spent. Can the tickets be transferred into someone else’s name. I unfortunately did not get travel insurance

    1. Check if the ticket can be refunded or rescheduled to a later date
    2. Check if it is possible to tranfer the ticket to someone else

The above you will have to ask your airline or travel agent as you didn’t give more details about your ticket.

How did you pay for the ticket? Some credit cards include travel insurance that you might be able to claim.

Airline tickets are not transferable from one person to another. In fact, it says that in the name box. Read the “Conditions of Carriage” which is a part of the contract between you and the airline, and is an integral part of your ticket for terms.

    1. check if the ticket is refundable or not

    2. normally name changes are not allowed but it will depend with the ticket restrictions

    3. this might not be the best solution but if in case non of the above works, call the airline you are travelling with and see if you can possibly request a refund due to medical reasons. Be ready with the medical certifcate from your doctor and a letter of request.

What airline are you travelling with by the way?
