rural carrier insurance?

tiaretehina asked:

hey everybody,

i’m a new part time rural carrier substitute, meaning i work on the regular carrier’ day off and holidays and sick days; i’m trying to insure a car i just bought, and they all tell me i need a commercial insurance but gmac told me i don’t need it because of some Federal Act so my 2 questions are”
1) does anybody know what that Act is?
2) why is every other insurance carrier trying to sell me that commercial deal if i don’t need it?

I need insurance asap as my vehicle comes on Friday and im using a minivan rite now, not practical at all and im driving w/o a seatbelt which i completely hate, i’ve never prayed so much in my entire life!!! ;-) Thank you in advance for your answers…

Have you checked with the Postal Service about the insurance? If there is such a law, they should know about it.

If you are using your car for any commercial venture, and that means anything that is paying you money, you need commercial insurance.
