No insurance, fine of $1,500?
okalie dokalie asked:
About 4 years ago my boyfriend was driving his friends truck and got pulled over for doing 72 in 55 zone with no insurance, had a valid drivers license at the time. The took away his license (suspended it) and told him he had to pay $1,500.0o hundred in fines, but he hasn’t paid the fines. I guess he thought they would forget about it. He got a call thinking it was a cop, but it was someone else and asked him to record something over the phone they told him he had to send a overnight delivery of the money to the court by saturday because they are close for the holidays, but he got the message to late to send it or something like that and now they say he has a warrent for his arrest. What will happen now, how long will he go to jail for, he’s got the money to pay them in about a week, but now they say hes got a warrent, any suggestions?

I am not sure who called, usually the police don’t call and remind you about fines and things. There most likely is a warrant for his arrest. He needs to not get caught before he goes and pays it. What he needs to do is find out what court his warrant is in. Go to that court and talk to the clerk. He might just have to pay the clerk or he may have to talk to the judge. If he has the money with him they pay not do anything else to him, just have to go and talk to them. But it shouldn’t be bad. Good luck.

I’ve never heard of a law enforcement agency calling to remiind a person to pay a fine, but that’s just me. Your bf should pay that fine ASAP. If he deosn’t, the next time he gets stopped by the police he will be arrested. How lonng he spends in jail is up to the judge.

what state is this? Is this Britain? most states in Us require proof of insurance by vehicle owner, not the driver if loaned temporarily- the borrowed friends truck should be insured by owned friend, not your driving boyfriend. this is either a scam or you are not giving important details. .
