i cashed a stolen n fraudalent check from a company called star travel do i have to pay back?

I was involved in a scam of a tour of the star of the company. cash the check and when I found out it was a scam I went to the police and the bank and told them what happened. the bank said I had to restore the police and I said no because it was a scam and the bank has insurance to pay for this. ¿Anyone knows what to do other than restore? Is there anyone who has come out of this without pay?

   I would go with what the bank is saying over what the police is saying. The police like to comment on matters in which they have no knowledge in, so unless the officer you were speaking to use to be a bank manager I would be focusing on working with your bank to resolve the situation.
