Any one know more about this?

Thursday, February 19th, 2009
Beulah asked:

Heard this on the Scottish news tonight. A soldier who has served in both Afghanistan and Kosovo, Has been seriously injured in a car crash whilst off duty. He is in hospital with serious head injuries. The MOD refuse to fund him being flown home to hospital in Aberdeen where he will receive better care.

The reason they give STV when they asked the army about this, is that the MOD is not responsible for accidents soldiers have when they are off duty, the guy should have taken out holiday insurance to cover this sort of thing when posted abroad.

The family now face a bill of over 20,000 pounds to cover the cost of hiring an air ambulance plus the nursing staff to accompany their brother home, and an ambulance to take him from the airport to the hospital in Aberdeen.

I think it is typical of how the British army treats personel and their families. I also think it is disgusting.

What is the board game i’m thinking of?

Thursday, February 19th, 2009
lilli asked:

I saw this game around the holidays, and now i want to buy it, but i doin’t know what it’s called. All i remember is that it was something like you had to do two things, it had two types of cards, and one said you had to try to convince the other players to buy life insurance or something, and the other card said that you had to sound like a pirate doing it. This was one of the examples on the back or something. Please help.

can anyone help please- anyone who is good at english?

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009
D G asked:

im confused about something that is written in my holiday insurance policy
it says:
there is no cover for any claims arising from a medical condition affecting any close relative, travelling companion

close relative, travelling companion is the part i dont understand, does it mean the close relative is a travelling companion or does it mean close relative or travelling companion? they are refusing my claim because they are saying it is to be interpreted as close relative or travelling companion but i would have thought in proper english it would imply that the close relative is a travelling companion? what does the comma mean?

well im asking for my dad, him and my mum had a holiday booked but his mum died and so they cancelled it and have claimed on their insurance to get their money back, but theyre saying because his mum was on heart medication they cant claim, but his mum wasnt going to be going with them.

US Medical bill problem for UK holidaymaker?

Monday, February 16th, 2009
alfie1116 asked:

Whilst on holiday in New York 3 months ago, my wife suffered a seizure. My holiday insurance turned down my claim as they say it is a pre-existing medical condition. I have just received a bill for over $18,000 which I can no-way afford. If I am forced to pay, I will lose everything, my home, my car and my business. Is there any way that I may avoid the bill. I have heard from some sources that hospital may write off the debt as I live in the UK and is difficult for them to chase me for the payment - or if I ignore any letters or any contact from the hospital they can not legally force me to pay as I am not a resident of the US. I’m very worried…any answer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

How to fight holiday depression?

Monday, February 16th, 2009
John asked:

I’ve had a really bad year, couple of them really, and Christmas is really dragging me down this year, even more than most. The company I worked for last year went out of business. My ex-girlfriend was living with me, she didn’t have a job either, and we were trying to get her son, and I needed health insurance, so I took a job I hate with a long commute so we’d have money. Then I found out she was taking money out of my bank account to buy drugs while I was at work. Now I’m alone and stuck at this horrible job I have to drive an hour to every morning because I have to pay the bills she was running up and I have a pre-existing condition so I have to keep insurance. I’m alone, I have no friends at work, it’s dark driving to work and dark driving home to my empty house. I’m drinking to much I know, but this year the holidays are hitting me hard. If I can make it until spring I’ll be okay, I always feel better, but that seems an eternity away right now.
